Bruges is a picturesque UNESCO World Heritage Site in Western Belgium. The city’s compact size and limited automobile access make it an ideal place to visit with your dog. So where should you with your favorite fur kid spend the night? You should sleep in the Doghouse, dog friendly B&B, of course!
The Doghouse B&B consists of three stylish guest rooms in a lovingly restored 16th-century building. Dogs will find all of the comforts of home in two of the spacious rooms. The owners’ dogs, Roxy & Dexter, also welcome your pup for a full English breakfast each morning.
The Doghouse is within easy walking distance of Bruges’ historic center. You’ll find a plethora of dog friendly dining and shopping options just a few blocks away. Your pup will also enjoy the small grassy park directly across the canal from the B&B. Louie especially seemed to love strolling along the canal, watching the swans.
There is one dedicated parking space at the Doghouse B&B, but it is first come first serve. When we stayed over, I opted to park in the modern, Langestraat Bruges garage a few blocks away. I recommend locking any large bags you have in your car trunk and carrying only what you need. Like most traditional Belgian buildings, the stairs at the Doghouse B&B are very steep. There is no lift, but the owners will help bring luggage up if you need it.
We spent the night at the Doghouse B&B in Bruges before taking the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle to England. Bruges makes a great weekend break from the UK, France, or the Netherlands. For a more extended stay, you can easily combine a visit to Bruges with another dog friendly Belgian city like Antwerp or the Ardennes region.
