Top 5 US Restaurants That Allow Dogs Inside
One of the most challenging aspects of traveling with dogs is finding restaurants where they are allowed. If the weather is good, you can sometimes sit on a patio, but what if it’s rainy or cold? In Europe, many restaurants allow indoor dining with dogs. Health codes in the USA generally prevent this, but a few new restaurants are finding ways around the restrictions. Here are five US restaurants that allow dogs inside:
Boris & Horton – New York, NY
Boris & Horton in New York’s East Village is the pack leader in indoor dining with dogs. They designed a system for customers to place their order from an outside window and then eat in a separate indoor area with their pup. Thanks to the gated entrance, dogs can play safely off-leash while their humans enjoy avocado toast or other trendy treats. Boris & Horton also hosts special events like dog friendly comedy shows, drag bingo, and trivia nights. A second Boris & Horton location recently opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Chateau le Woof – Queens, NY
Chateau le Woof is another fun spot for indoor dining with dogs in the New York area. On weekends, the restaurant allows dogs inside for a hearty full-service brunch. During the week, Chateau le Woof offers an inside off-leash cafe area, a small pet boutique, and a grooming salon.
Dawg Park Grill- Glenview & South Barrington, IL
Chicagoland’s Dawg Park Grill specializes in comfort foods like gourmet hot dogs, burgers, and fries. Keeping with the canine theme, your leashed pup is welcome to join you inside. There is no waitstaff; just place your order at the counter, and they will call you as soon as it’s done. Seating is available in everything from traditional booths to funky macrame chairs.
Pub Dog – Colorado Springs, CO
In my opinion, Pub Dog has the best food of any US restaurant that allows indoor dining with dogs. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar, and they will text you when it is ready for pickup. By not offering table service, this restaurant is allowed to welcome dogs inside. However, they do require that pups stay leashed and on the floor in the dining area. Pub Dog has several off-leash sections where your pup can get exercise before you go in to eat.
Zoomies Pet Cafe – St. Louis, MO
The owner of Zoomies Pet Cafe has gone to great lengths to allow indoor dining with dogs. She has organized separate inside and outside restaurant areas. The outdoor space is fully fenced for off-leash play. Inside the cafe, dogs can be off-leash as long as they don’t bother other customers. Pups are welcome to relax in a bed on the floor or join you at the table.
