Just a few blocks down the road from the iconic Chateau Marmont lies the dog friendly Sunset Tower Hotel. Like the Marmont, the Sunset Tower oozes old Hollywood glamour and is popular with the glitterati. The hotel’s staff know how to treat all their guests like celebrities, whether they have two legs or four.
Sunset Tower History
Constructed in the late 1920s, the art deco Sunset Tower was LA’s first earthquake-proof building. Architect Leland A. Bryant built the residential tower on the Sunset Strip, close to some of the hottest restaurants and lounges of the day. The popular location appealed to residents like Marilyn Monroe, Errol Flynn, John Wayne, and Elizabeth Taylor. Notorious characters like Bugsey Seagal and Howard Hughes also called the Sunset Tower home for a time.
Dog Friendly Amenities at Sunset Tower
Ninety years later, the Sunset Tower Hotel still attracts some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Even pets get the VIP treatment the moment they arrive. Dog friendly amenities in the room include stylish dog beds, bowls, and treats. A canine room service menu is also available in case your pup is craving a New York strip steak. Sunset Tower charges a non-refundable fee of $100 per stay for pets but asks that they not be left in your room unattended
A Room With a Dog Park View
Louie enjoyed lying on his fluffy Sunset Tower bed, gazing out of the floor to ceiling windows. Our room looked directly down over the William S. Hart Dog Park, so there was plenty to entertain him. I enjoyed that I didn’t have to walk far when he needed to go potty. Although we didn’t have a chance to try the restaurant at Sunset Tower, we both enjoyed people watching in the dog friendly lounge area.
