I think it’s safe to say that more restaurants in Paris allow dogs inside than forbids them. Not only are pups welcome in most cafes, but they can even join you for a gourmet meal in some of the cities finest Michelin starred restaurants. Here is an updated list of my favorite dog friendly Paris restaurants:
Michelin Starred Paris Restaurants
Le Grand Vefour 17, rue de Beaujolais, 75001
I got the idea to visit Le Grand Vefour with my first dog, Tara, after reading Michael Konik’s book, Ella in Europe. In the book, Konik writes of his amazement when his dog Ella is allowed in the Michelin starred Paris restaurant. Le Grand Vefour did not disappoint in real life. Acclaimed chef Guy Martin personally greeted Tara and offered her a special dog friendly meal.
Atelier de Joël Robuchon 5 rue de Montalembert, 75007
Another Michelin starred dog friendly Paris restaurant. For a once in a lifetime experience, try the chef’s 11-course tasting menu! Louie recommends the foie gras though I’m not personally a fan.
Dog Friendly Bistros & Brasseries
Brasserie Lipp 151, blvd Saint-Germain 75006
Lipp is a classic dog friendly Paris restaurant. According to the old sign on the wall, can’t put your dog on the seats or feed them off the restaurant’s plates. Louie is usually happy just hunting for baguette crumbs on the floor.
Le Dali 228, rue de Rivoli, 75001
Alain Ducasse’s more “casual” restaurant in the dog friendly Paris hotel, Le Meurice. Posh pups are welcomed in with their own bowl of water. You can read more about my 2013 stay at Le Meurice Hotel in my post, Paris with a Dog.
Le Bouledogue 20, rue Rambuteau, 75003
It should come as no surprise that Le Bouledogue is a dog friendly restaurant. The owners’ elderly French Bulldog may even come over to greet you. I love the Frenchie decor almost as much as the food.
La Tour de Montlhéry (a.k.a. Chez Denise) 5 rue des Prouvaires, 75001
This old school French bistro is known to locals as Chez Denise. It is a flashback to the time when the Les Halles neighborhood was known as the “belly of Paris.” Expect to hear mostly French and be squeezed in alongside fellow diners. It is all part of the charm!
Canine Cafe Culture
Angelina 226, rue de Rivoli, 75001
The home of the famous Mont Blanc pastry allows dogs in its Paris Salon de Thé. Angelina is a tourist attraction in its own right, so be prepared to wait for a table at this popular restaurant.
Les Deux Magots 6, Place Saint-Germain des Prés, 75006
Let your dog channel its inner Jean-Paul Sartre at the philosopher’s favorite hangout, Les Deux Magots. The outside seats are a popular spot to sit, watch the world go by, and contemplate nothingness.
Cafe de Flore 172, blvd Saint-Germain 75006
Another excellent location for people and puppy watching! Cafe de Flore is a Left Bank institution. Human customers often sit for hours over a glass of wine or coffee, but your dog will have to settle for water.
