Dog friendly Palm Springs, California is a super stylish resort town about a two-hour drive from Los Angeles. Boasting 350 sunny days a year, Palm Springs offers endless outdoor opportunities for humans and canines alike. Palm Springs is well known for its mid-century architecture, hedonistic lifestyle, and an increasingly welcoming attitude towards dogs.
Dog Friendly Palm Springs Hotels:
There is a wide selection of dog friendly Palm Springs hotels, but pet fees vary greatly. For example, the luxurious Parker Meridien charges $200 extra per dog per night. I opted for the historic Colony Palms Hotel, on the edge of Palm Springs’ “Movie Colony.” The Colony Palms allows dogs up to 40 pounds for a more reasonable fee of $100 per stay. Dog beds and bowls are available free of charge.
Located in a peaceful 3-acre oasis with lush landscaping and a heated saltwater pool, the Colony Palms Hotel is a relaxing spot for both dogs and humans. Unlike most dog friendly hotels, the Colony Palms allows pups to lounge by the pool with their masters. Dogs are also welcome on the patio of the highly rated Purple Palm Restaurant. The Colony Palms Hotel has a discreet, understated glamour that reminds me of the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.
Dog Friendly Palm Springs Restaurants:
There are several popular dog friendly Palm Springs restaurants located within a block of the Colony Palms Hotel. Our favorite was Cheeky’s, a local favorite on N. Palm Canyon Drive. Cheeky’s does not accept reservations, so you may have to wait for a table. Once seated, you can enjoy breakfast or lunch from a menu that changes weekly. Louie recommends the “bacon flight,” of five different slices for $7.
Dog Friendly Activities:
After fueling up at Cheeky’s, be sure to check out some of the galleries and trendy shops located in the Uptown Design District. Fans of the mid-century modern aesthetic should not miss to Shag, featuring the art of Josh Agle (aka Shag). The gallery sells everything from Shag’s original artwork to mid-century inspired tiki decor and Hawaiian shirts.
Louie and I had a great time in Palm Springs, California. It was a perfect place to relax for a few days in between our visits to San Diego and Las Vegas. Do you have a favorite dog friendly Palm Springs hotel or restaurant? If so, please share in the comments so we can check them out next time we visit!

Way to play it cool in Palm Springs, Louie! I loved the swanky BLG gallery you went to 😊💚
BLG is the coolest color around!
Not travelling much to the US these days but I must admit … loving the decor on this one!
Hi Sonja, Louie and I had a great time at the Colony Palms Hotel (and I don’t get anything for saying that). It had a very laid back but sophisticated vibe. I hope you can check it out sometime. Your pups would love it! Thanks, Jenna
