Trying to escape the rain in London is a way of life. Fortunately, the city offers some creative, dog friendly indoor activities so you don’t have to get soaked. Louie and I had a chance to experience a few during our most recent (very soggy) visit. Here are our new favorites:
Tower Bridge Exhibition
London’s Tower Bridge is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. The 125-year-old drawbridge features a unique dual-level design. The upper-level walkway was initially a way for pedestrians to cross above the drawbridge when raised for a ship.
Today, the upper-level operates exclusively as part of the dog friendly “Tower Bridge Exhibition.” For £9.80, you and your pup can ride the elevator up to the walkway. You can learn all about the bridge’s history or just enjoy the view. Daring dogs can even walk across glass segments of the floor for a view of the river underneath!
Dog Friendly Film Screening
What better way to escape bad weather than to go see a film? Picturehouse Cinemas offers special dog friendly screenings about once a month at various London locations. Louie and I got to see the biopic, “Judy,” on the big screen at Picturehouse Central in Picadilly. There were about 20 other dogs in the audience, and they were better behaved than most children.
Dim Sum at The Duck and Rice
My favorite dog friendly indoor activity is going out to eat together. After our Sunday morning film screening, Louie and I headed to The Duck and Rice in Soho to try some dim sum. The Duck and Rice is an eclectic British pub that serves delicious Chinese food. The dumplings, steamed buns, and crispy duck helped make a gloomy day a little brighter.
I found out about all these dog friendly indoor activities online. If you are planning your own trip to London, I recommend checking out The Dogvine or The LonDog websites to see what’s on during your stay!
