I’ve put together a list of some of the most popular dog-friendly hotel chains to get you started. It’s based on pet policy information available on the hotel websites on January 1, 2020. Please contact the property before booking to make sure there haven’t been any changes.
Moderate Hotels:
- All properties are dog friendly
- Must be under 40lbs
- No pet fee!
- Special pet beds and amenities available
Best Western:
- 1,600 dog friendly properties
- Up to 2 pets allowed per room
- Must be under 80lbs
- Fees depend on the location but are typically $30 per night.
- They may also charge a refundable deposit
DoubleTree:
- Over 120 dog friendly properties
- Up to $75 non-refundable fee per stay
Hampton Inn:
- Most properties allow dogs
- Pets can’t be left unattended
- 870 dog friendly properties
- $20 fee per night ($40 per stay maximum)
- 2 pets allowed per room
- All properties are dog friendly
- No size restrictions
- $25 pet fee per night
First Class Dog Friendly Hotel Chains:
Kimpton Hotels:
- All properties are VERY dog friendly
- Any size pet allowed
- No fees!
- Multiple pets per room
- Special amenities like beds and bowls are available
- All properties are dog friendly
- Up to 2 pets per room
- Fees and restrictions vary by location

- May need to show proof of vaccination
Marriott – Autograph Collection, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Renaissance, etc.:

- Up to 2 pets per room
- Must be less than 36” tall and 36” long
- $25 fee per night per pet ($150 max per month, per pet)
Home2Suites:
- Most properties allow dogs
- Up to 2 pets per suite
- Fees and restrictions differ by location
This post is just a sampling of America’s most popular dog friendly hotel chains. Many independent boutique hotels and bed & breakfasts also accept pets, so don’t rule those out. Have you stayed someplace you especially enjoyed or had a bad experience at a particular hotel? Please let us know!

It’s great to see so many of the Hotel lines that are allowing dogs into their guest rooms. Many people think more of their dogs than humans and many people don’t want to leave their pets at home. I will be needing to get a room with my Olde English Bulldogge late December early January this coming winter. This detailed list has made it now quite easy to make accommodations for myself and my beloved OEB Kayly Rose. Thanks for the info. Elizabeth Gardner
Sadly lots of these places mentioned do not allow pets.
